GRESHAM YOUTH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
GYFA is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the development of football skills & character for our Gresham area student-athletes.
We welcome students entering the 3rd through 8th grade each fall, who reside in the Gresham High School boundary area.
3rd & 4th-grade athletes are introduced to football & the concepts with flag football, and graduate into half field tackle football in 5th grade. Full-field tackle begins in 7th grade.
Our goal is to develop well-rounded athletes who grow into our high school program. Our home field is the turf field at Gresham High School where we play home games. Our athletes love playing on the turf. Most GYFA upper games are announced. Our athletes love hearing their names over the PA at the field, just like a High School game.
Our staff works with the GHS Varsity Head Football Coach (Mike Melton) to acquaint the young athletes through practice, football camps and coaching clinics with an emphasis on common terminology, offensive schemes and defensive formations throughout their athletic years in the Gresham School District.
Our athletes are outstanding young citizens who represent our values on and off the field.
We're looking forward to opening registration and kicking off the season as soon as it's safe!
Until then, stay up to date by following us on social media. Stay safe!
We are proud to announce that we've joined the Mt. Hood Youth Football Association (MHYFA) league along with other local Youth Football Organizations. This will provide more players with access to football with lower costs and reduced travel times to games.
We have made changes to our program in line with OSAA recommendations. As such, we will pivot the following by grade level:
Please note that volunteering is not optional. Parent/Guardian volunteers are the only way we can maintain our all-volunteer organization. By registering, you are agreeing to take a shift in the snack shack and aid in other game-day activities. We appreciate that this can be a hardship for some families. Volunteer shifts can be covered by proxy if the commitments are fulfilled by someone over 17 years old. Please let us know if you have any questions.
The Mt. Hood Youth Football Association is a new conference, started in 2020 in coordination with other Youth Football Organizations in East county
The MHYFA board is made up of members from each football league. Their goal is to provide accessible football to local families in a safe and enjoyable athletic atmosphere. Good sportsmanship, personal development, and attitude are cornerstones.
Coaches have kept sports alive in 2020. Has your kid's coach helped them through this crisis?Nominate them for a chance to win $2500!
